Cuban Tropical Tile

Niccccce! I just found a web site with these tiles and I think they would be waaaay more affordable than the ones from Morrocco(duh).

Check out their web site and see what you think.

*the web site it's self is a little ghetto, but the tile is cool.

Exterior

Here is what I have been thinking about for exteriors. The one on the left is the little studio, and the one on the right is the main house. So it's like they're each half of the other kind of. I don't know where i came up with that, but it's just been in my head. They don't have to be that close - it would just be like the studio would be a mini me.
Then the second drawing is with proches on the back sides and with Adam's crows nest. Obviously these are very preliminary, but I wanted you to see things I was thinking about.
When I look at them now these drawings look very contemporary, but that's more because they're such simple little drawings. I was actually thinking they would be more old wood looking - and the windows wouldn't be that contemporary looking. More like these:

Main Area Developing Plans

Like I mentioned before, I see the main living area, kitchen, and the master bedroom all up against the rear of the house for the view.
Then towards the back you could have the bedrooms tucked away and the t.v. room away from the big windows, or as I mentioned before they could start creeping downwards (down stairs).

Studio Developing Plans

I'm liking the idea of the painting area and the living room area being seperated by move able wall or doors. It seems like it would be nice if you weren't actually painting that you could have all of that open. I don't know, what do you think? Then the guest bedroom could actually end up going above the painting area and then be open to below like a little loft. Hmmm
I have the kitchen and bathroom close because the more plumbing walls you can share the better (cheaper, more efficient)
As you can see I have the studio as, well a studio - meaning one giant room kind of. I know the painting area can't have windows though, hence the closing doors.

Bubble Diagrams

So here are some sketches of shaping up the floor plan. These are "bubble" diagrams of the different areas and their proximity to one another.
Studio - I have the painting area away from the kitchen because the smells coming from painting wouldn't be that nice to have in the kitchen. Yet the storage wants to be close to the painting area since you will be storing art - and so on and so on.

In the main cabin/house I saw it as the main living area be central, kitchen off of that - master bedroom is also off of main living area since when you guys are there alone it seems like it would be nice to have all of that open to one another since they will be the spaces you use most. Then having another tv area away from all of that with the other bedrooms off of it - so if you have guests and they are all up watching tv you guys can escape to your little master bedroom haven. Also, if the main living area is going to be in a place where there is a lot of sun light it would be nice to have a tv area that is away from that, better for watching movies and such. Who knows, but the 2nd t.v. area and bedrooms could be on a lower level too.

So I have drawings that actually look like floor plans, I just wanted to show you this as some of the ways I have been thinking about it. I will post the others soon.

Morrocan Tiles

While looking for an antique store the other day I walked past this place and it sucked me in. It made me think of you and your house. These were so beautiful, but oh so pricey, so maybe either we will be able to find a cool laminate tile like them, or we could use just a row of them for your back splash or on the floor some where. I'm taking you here if you guys come back out here some time!

floor plans

I pretty much know nothing about floor plans. but, i've collected these suckers from cool houses so take what you want from them. I thought this was a good simple floor plan for a small space. I imagine the kitchen on one end of the space with the bathroom next to it. so it would work more if this plan was longer vertically
nice size for studio kitchen, but the bedroom is too big. this floor plan is a little too open.
This is the floor plan for that simple japanese house with the sliding windows. The little house on the right is so cute!
this plan would work for studio if you switched the painting and the kitchen areas. I also imagine the work area and storage in the same space(not seperated by a room.) and the painting room next to it. maybe painting room would be f? theses are just ideas.
I ripped out these next three plans because it kinda gives an idea of what we want on the first level. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen and living. The kitchen and living area would be facing the lake with windows. the extra bedroom could be the second tv room/play room?
I pulled out this plan because it had a car port which led straight to the living area. I don't like how the entrance walks through the laundry room. Again the windows would be at the front where the kitchen dining and living are. I imagine these rooms a little bigger.
just an idea

i would like the kitchen on one side or the other, not right in the middle.

we are planning on having the studio 500 - 800 square ft. cool how the bedroom is right above the bathroom

this floor plan feels really crammed

looks like an interesting plan, but not realistic for us
i think our plan would work better with more of a rectangular shape plan.
nevermind, this was the japanese simple floor plan with the sliding glass windows. the open simplicity is nice don't you think?

Windows

********** favorites love this anthropology room and the windows. again, dont really know if adam will go for them.

look at this pattern of windows. how clever. I would like the windows around the house to be orchestrated in an artistic way.
cool little windows and living area on the bottom. love the way this house looks. so cute.
sliding glass door

sliding glass door

**********favorites check out the geometric windows. this it the outside of the bathroom view with the windows.
this option would probobly be soooo expensive. but isn't it pretty?
breakfast nook and studio windows/ or living windows.
pretty view from the inside. maybe living area?
*** favorites sheet of windows
*******favorites these sleek windows. barley there look. it feels like we are in nature.
big windows from the inside. Maybe this is how the living area could be with sliding doors or windows/doors that open to the outside?
big windows

these wood floors and window is precious. I don't know if adam will go for a window like this, or if it will go with the other windows, but i still like it.

random info

some random info
first off all of these rooms are probobly not possible with 3000 square ft, so we could always just have one tv room, or make the living space smaller or whatever. we are open for ideas.
1. yah adams crows next will be on the same floor as the master bedroom. the crows nest will be flush with the house surrounded by windows(what do you think?) and the master bedroom tucked back with a deck.
2.studio - yah seperated from the house. It will need a utility sink and a kitchen sink. Heres what the studio needs;
kitchen with fridge, lil oven, bedroom, bathroom with shower, storage/work area, painting room, fireplace. since the studio will also be used for a guest bedroom, it would be nice to have the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom all next to eachother. So, the studio and workarea seperated with doors. the studio will be behind the house. the land starts to slope a little more after the house ends. we also want a deck to run along the outside of the studio and a covered path that leads to the house
3. yah love the high cielings. Probobly only have high cielings in a couple key areas. what do you think? Its hard because we like the simplicity of the "barley there" cabin and the denmark cabin, but love the high cielings look.
4. so one of the most important things to adam is big windows. from top to bottom in the kitchen, living area, breakfast nook, master bed, and crows nest. the kitchen, and living area will be facing the lake with windows. ideally, the 3 bedrooms, laundry room and bathroom will be tucked away behind the living area.
5. No garage, just a car port. however, we are going to need a storage shed somewhere? with a covered shed next to it to store the wood
6. 3 bathrooms with showers
7. 2 different tv rooms. one in the living area next to the bookshelves, fireplace and kitchen and another next to the bedrooms in the back.
8. a little guest room with french doors next to kitchen room that can be used as kid play room until they grow older and it can be guest room
9. sm laundry room
10. work area with desk in kitchen
11. 2 fireplaces possibly three in house

details

like the little work station in the hall
love the grey over sized molding
cool little grey bubble light
all different chairs, yet they feel like they belong together
love the tile and the desk. maybe we will use some of this tile outside in the court area. don't know

I like this idea of having vintage big wood doors
